Art Therapy
Mim Johnson RN AThR is a registered nurse and qualified therapist, having completed her Masters of Art Therapy (Psychology and Public Health) at La Trobe University. Mim is a Professional Member of ANZACATA.
Mim specialises in Women’s and Children’s wellbeing, all-abilities, neurodivergence, self-esteem, wellbeing, and, grief and loss, all with a trauma-informed lens.
Utilising evidence-based practice, Mim works alongside in a neuro-sequential model, guiding clients to regulate, relate, reason and reflect. Art Therapy assists in processing emotions and experiences. It can help with emotional well-being, mental health, and personal growth.
Mim tailors therapeutic interventions to individual needs and goals, incorporating creative visual arts that inspire self-expression and exploration.
And best of all, Art Therapy requires no artistic skill! Art Therapy with Mim is centered around possibility, not perfection!
Art Therapy Services
Individual therapy - Studio based art therapy is designed to meet a range of client needs. An intake call/meeting is necessary prior to the first session to identify goals of therapy, and helpful ways to incorporate art therapy for you.
Group/Dyad therapy - Mim runs a regular clay based group for people with Parkinson’s.
Outreach services - Art Therapy may be offered in your home if appropriate. Mim also has some capacity to run small group workshops in schools and workplaces.
